"Report ignored by our municipal and provincial government"
A KPOW researcher discovered a 1999 report ignored by our municipal and provincial governments that PCBs and other contaminants were dumped at Sinister Creek. They were leaking into the creek, Scugog River, Sturgeon Lake, and Pigeon Lake. KPOW made it public and a cleanup was initiated.
"Installation of a second leachate collection system"
KPOW reduced vile leakage by filing an appeal to the Commissioner of the Environment, helping to force the installation of a second leachate collection system at the closed Lindsay Street North dump.
"Objections to dumping dead carcasses"
KPOW raised strong objections and the City withdrew its proposal to dispose of dead livestock carcasses at Lindsay/Ops dump.
"No dumping contaminated soil"
KPOW successfully opposed Quantum Environmental’s bid to truck in contaminated soil for remediation at Lindsay/Ops dump.
